Your information and how we look after it
This page explains, in plain words, what happens to information about you when your swim school uses Vardeck. The full grown-up version is here.
What we know about you
Your name, your age, which class you swim in, the badges you've earned, and anything your grown-up told the swim school to keep you safe — like an allergy or something a teacher should know.
How we keep it safe
Your information is locked away with the same kind of protection banks use. Only the people who need it — like your teacher and the swim school — can see it. Health information is extra-protected, and we write down every time someone looks at it.
Photos
Nobody can use a photo of you unless your parent or carer has said yes. They can change their mind at any time.
Your grown-ups are in charge
Because you're young, your parent or carer makes the choices about your information — like whether photos are OK. When you're older, you get more say.
We don't keep it forever
When you stop swimming with your school, your information is tidied away after a set time — we don't hang on to it for no reason.
You can ask questions
You (or your grown-up) can ask the swim school what information they have about you, get a copy of it, fix it if it's wrong, or ask for it to be deleted.
Worried about something?
If anything about your information worries you, tell your parent or carer, or a teacher at your swim school. Grown-ups can also contact the UK's privacy watchdog, the ICO, if they think something isn't right.
